每年農曆九月二十九日，是偉大的藥師佛聖誕日。藥師佛全名為「藥師琉璃光如來」，又稱為「藥師如來」、「大醫王佛」、「消災延壽藥師佛」等，是東方淨琉璃世界的教主。由於藥師佛特別重視為眾生消災解厄、增福增慧，並治理眾生癲狂、頑愚、諸根不具等種種身病，故以「藥師」為名。在這一天，我們該如何向藥師佛表達心中的敬意與真誠呢？

How to celebrate Medicine Buddha’s Birthday?

Every year on the 29th day of the ninth lunar month, we commemorate the auspicious occasion of Medicine Buddha’s Birthday. Medicine Buddha, also known as “Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata” and “Medicine Buddha of Eliminating Calamities and Prolonging Life,” is the spiritual leader of the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli World. Medicine Buddha is particularly renowned for relieving sentient beings from calamities, increasing their blessings and wisdom, and treating various physical and mental ailments, hence the name “Medicine Buddha.” On this day, how can we express our reverence and sincerity towards Medicine Buddha?

一、 佛前供燈

為最愛的親人、朋友點一盞光明燈，為他們送去吉祥、光明的祝福，願諸佛菩薩的呵護與加持，讓他們獲得幸福、快樂！

1. Offering lights before the Buddha

Make light offerings before the Buddha for your beloved family and friends. Send them auspicious blessings, wishing for the protection and empowerment of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to bring happiness and joy into their lives.

二、佛前獻花、獻哈達

參加藥師佛聖誕法會時，親自於佛前獻上一盆鮮花，祈願修好因、得善果，在人世間的功德福報如花一般芳香美好。鮮花由禪堂統一購買，數量有限，歡迎提前來電登記。

佛前獻哈達是一個充滿敬意與祈福的傳統儀式。哈達是一條象徵純潔、善良與祝福的絲巾，獻哈達代表我們對佛菩薩的崇敬，也象徵著將我們的祈願與感恩帶到佛前，祈求福慧雙增。通過獻哈達，我們希望帶來內心的清淨與祥和，為自己與親友祈求平安健康。

2. Flower and Hata Offering

At the Ceremony, you can offer a bouquet of fresh flowers in front of the Buddha, symbolizing the cultivation of good deeds and blessings. Flowers are provided by the center (limited supply), so call ahead to reserve.

Hata offering is a traditional act of respect and blessing. A hata, a silk scarf, represents purity, kindness, and good wishes. By offering it, we express reverence to the Buddha and bring our prayers for peace, wisdom, and health for ourselves and loved ones.

三、佛前供花果/贊助法會活動

在這吉祥殊勝的日子，在佛前供花、果、水、七寶，以及贊助相關的慶祝活動，能讓佛歡喜，讓眾生歡喜，這樣殊勝的功德能幫助我們成就心中種種美好的願望，健康美麗、豐衣足食、圓滿富貴人生。

3. Sponsoring the Celebration Event

On this special day, sponsoring flowers, fruits, water, and the seven treasures before the Buddha, and related celebratory activities, can bring joy to the Buddha and all beings. 四、參加「藥師佛愛我：福壽念佛班」

5. Join the Blessing Ceremony

The Medicine Buddha’s birthday is a special time to pray for protection from obstacles and for longevity. By attending the ceremony and chanting together, we receive the compassionate blessings of Medicine Buddha, promoting healing, peace, and a longer, more prosperous life.

Medicine Buddha is the Great Healer and the primary Buddha at Bodhi Meditation. Our teachers will pray for Medicine Buddha’s blessings and channel the compassionate energy blessings to you, including water blessings, scripture blessings, vehicle blessings, and the golden bowl hand-washing ritual. May these blessings bring you Medicine Buddha’s protection, healing, peace, and increased wisdom and good fortune.
