Buddha’s Birthday · Dharma Joy Fills the World
Welcoming the birth of the Buddha, the 2025 Buddha Bathing Festival at the Bodhi Meditation Center in Los Angeles grandly commenced! Devotees and families from all directions gathered, filling the venue with Dharma joy and melodious Dharma sounds, as a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and reverence permeated every corner.
Solemn Ceremony Highlights
Buddha Bathing & Blessing
The long line of participants marked the start of the Buddha Bathing ritual — the most solemn moment in everyone’s heart. Holding water spoon in their hands, people bathed the Buddha statue while cleansing away the dust of life, purifying their thoughts, and praying for world peace and family well-being.
Wish Card Writing
Wish cards, filled with blessings and heartfelt hopes, were hung on the Prayer Tree, swaying gently in the wind like lotus blossoms blooming toward the Buddha. Some wrote “Good health for my parents,” others “Success in exams.” Every card carried infinite aspirations.
Flower & Khata Offering
With fresh flowers and khatas in hand, participants presented their most sincere respect to the Buddha. Each offering was like a thread of fragrant incense, silently conveying gratitude and prayers.
Sutra Copying
In serene silence, everyone immersed themselves in the scriptures. Each stroke of the pen was not only an offering to the Buddha but also a dialogue with one’s own heart — a practice of focus and wisdom.
Blessing Rituals
Purified water blessing, washing hands in the golden basin, and receiving blessings from the scriptures brought everyone peace and light.
Buddha Relics & Thangka Offering
The rare display of sacred Buddha relics was opened for offerings, while the 18th-century thangka “The Life of the Buddha” became one of the highlights of the day. Many stood before the painting with palms joined, feeling the compassion of the Buddha’s light blessing them with peace of body and mind.
Prayer Wheel Offering
For the first time, an 18th–19th century Tibetan silver-inlaid copper prayer wheel was displayed, allowing the public to make offerings and receive great blessings.
Continuing the Atmosphere of the Solemn Ceremony
Following the solemn rituals, the event unfolded in waves of laughter and applause! From delicious market foods and stage performances to fun games and lucky draws, Bodhi Meditation Center was filled with a festive spirit, as joyful as Lunar New Year.
The colorful marketplace delighted all five senses. The bustling vendor area offered an array of attractions: fragrant handmade vegetarian bento boxes and snacks, artisanal crafts, Buddhist cultural and creative products, elegant potted plants, and calming lifestyle goods. The space buzzed with a constant flow of visitors, bursts of laughter, and a sense of abundance as everyone left with full hands and happy hearts.
Grand Finale Lucky Draw | Bringing Joy Home
As the event drew to a close, the long-awaited lucky draw took the spotlight! From practical daily gifts to blessed Dharma items, winners claimed their prizes with joy, and the entire crowd erupted in celebration.
Buddha’s Birthday is not only a solemn tribute, but also a joyful day for the whole family.
